We are the knights of the digital era. Our calling is to protect computer users and their digital worlds across the globe – and to do so with great accuracy, speed and care, for our users' benefit. We value our independence − and decide ourselves what and how we are going to do to achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves.
The team in basic research and development makes sure that our products are fast and able to react to emerging threats. They are the ones behind ESET’s leading-edge technologies like Exploit Blocker and Livegrid. They are the driving force behind continual improvements to Antispam, and also Parental Control. And they are in full control of the logic behind all our security products. The biggest challenge they face is the sheer volume of data they have to sift through. On a daily basis, they need to process close to 100,000 files and millions of logs, passing this wealth of information to their colleagues in the VirusLab.
VirusLab. This is the place where it all comes together – a team analyzes the intercepted code, using reverse-engineering skills. Up against them are hackers from all over the world, keeping them quite busy. Even though the primary attacks are against the Windows platform, malware writers are not passing over other operating systems including Mac, Linux, Android and some of the more exotic ones. The ground-breaking findings of our people in VirusLab find their way into blogs, such as our own WeLiveSecurity, or are shared at industry conferences and events.
Once our products have been perfected from a technical point of view, they find their way to applied development. This is because we want to make products that are as functional as they are easy to use. At this stage, the fine-tuning of our security solutions for Windows, Mac and Linux takes place and ESET Remote Administrator is developed, a tool that eases the work of hundreds of thousands of admins across the world. In addition, this is where the magic happens – and additional products like ESET Mobile Security and ESET Social Media Scanner, a free security app, are put through their paces.
The business applications unit is central to product development, ensuring that our products make their way to the customer. These guys are in charge of administering databases of customers and licenses, and provide support to the distributors and resellers of our security solutions.
